Job Requirements
Who you are- 5–8 years of experience in operations, marketplaces, supply chain, consulting, startups, or high‑growth environments.
- Proven track record of building something from scratch (new business, category, geography, or function).
- Strong commercial intuition; you understand pricing, incentives, and unit economics.
- Highly analytical: comfortable with messy data, spreadsheets, and first‑principles thinking.
- Hustler mentality: you move fast, push through blockers, and take accountability.
- Comfortable operating without a playbook; you create one.
- Strong communicator who can work directly with suppliers, buyers, and senior stakeholders.
- Bias for action over perfection.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Amsterdam.
Job Responsibilities
We are launching new categories from zero and are looking for a Senior Operations Manager - Expansion to own the operational and commercial execution end‑to‑end.
This is not a “steady‑state ops” role. You will operate in uncertainty, design processes where none exist, and push the category from first suppliers and buyers to repeatable, scalable operations.
You will sit at the intersection of supply, demand, logistics, and data. You are expected to hustle, unblock issues aggressively, and take accountability for results, not tasks.
If you are someone who thrives in ambiguity, blends commercial thinking with operational rigor, and enjoys building businesses rather than maintaining them, this role is for you.
What You’ll Be Working On
You will be accountable for making new categories work in reality, not just on slides, working closely with the Head of Expansion and the product team.
Category Operations (Build from Zero)- Own the operational launch of new categories end‑to‑end.
- Translate category strategy into executable workflows across supply and demand.
- Build the first operating model: suppliers, assortment, pricing flows, logistics setup, and service levels.
- Identify what breaks first and fix it fast.
- Work directly with suppliers to ensure availability, pricing accuracy, and operational reliability.
- Partner with commercial teams to support early buyer onboarding and trial orders.
- Balance supply constraints and buyer expectations in real time.
- Push both sides of the marketplace to unlock liquidity.
- Identify revenue, margin, and cost levers within category operations.
- Diagnose root causes of underperformance (pricing, logistics, seller quality, assortment gaps).
- Propose and execute pragmatic solutions, fast.
- Never accept “this is how it’s done” as an answer.
- Own category‑level operational and commercial metrics.
- Build and maintain dashboards, trackers, and simple models to guide decisions.
- Use data to prioritise actions, not to overanalyze.
- Make trade‑offs explicitly and decisively.
- Design lightweight, scalable processes that can grow with volume.
- Document playbooks once something works, not before.
- Work closely with Product, Data, Logistics, and Supply Success to automate where it matters.
- Prepare the category to transition from “expansion mode” to core business.
Job Benefits
Package, Perks & Benefits- 26 days of annual leave, plus 3 personal days to use whenever you need them.
- Yearly performance‑based bonus to reward your impact.
- Pension contributions to help you plan for the future.
- Annual Learning & Development budget to support your professional growth.
- Hybrid working on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Dog friendly offices.
- Onboarding home‑office package to get you set up for success.
