Senior Business Controller
We are currently looking to strengthen the Business Controlling team at Backbase by adding a Senior Business Controller This role would have a strong focus on cost control, process improvement, and reporting.
This role is based in Amsterdam and will be reporting to the VP of Business Controlling.
You will work with key business sholders to develop short-, medium-, and long-term business plans and manage the P&L by business unit - both on results and on process improvements.
What you'll do
The main responsibilities include:
• Business Partnering
• Proactive communication with Business Partners and Sholders
• Drive the profile of finance within the organization
• Act as a sparring partner to challenge decisions
• Month End close
Ensure the accuracy of the P&L numbers for your business areas:
• Proactively work with the business and Financial Accounting team to ensure numbers reflect reality;
• Provide commentary to VP Business Controlling as part of month-end variance analysis;
• Present monthly numbers to business partners and sholders;
• Budgeting and forecasting;
• Lead the end-to-end annual budgeting process for your business areas;
• Own recurring forecast updates, ensuring these are fully aligned with the business;
• Produce analysis and slide content for any MT updates;
• Cost Controlling;
• of cost-controlling actions;
• Drive 'close the gap' conversations with the business to immediately address any overspending that may be identified.
• FTE reporting and forecasting;
• Track and maintain headcount plans for each business area;
• Work with HR and business to continually drive better reporting and data.
Who you are
Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years experience in finance, of which 2 years in business control roles
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial analysis
• Experience in business planning and financial control
• Knowledge of finance principles and financial modeling
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
Relevant skills and qualifications that would be beneficial for this role include:
• Experience in IT services industry
• Knowledge of ASC606 revenue recognition
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial software
• A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
