Your contribution to TenneT

The electrical power system is in the middle of a transition that is significantly increasing the complexity of system operations. This change is driven by political, regulatory, environmental and technological background. Therefore, System Operations needs to be prepared for the challenges ahead by influencing future regulation and relevant stakeholders, by contributing to national & international activities, identifying future needs for innovations, developing ingenious concepts and knowledge to ensure TenneT is prepared to also operate the future power system with the same level of reliability and security, as we have today!

In the department of System Operations you contribute directly to these challenges by identifying the future needs and taking initiative for necessary developments as well as contributing to the challenges of today. You promote innovation and propose improvements for system operations in close collaboration with many internal and external as well as national and international stakeholders.

 •  You will contribute to the developments of the Control Room of the Future (CRoF) program , enabling the energy transition from grid operations perspective. Its roadmap contains multiple initiatives on network model management (NMM), dynamic security assessment (DSA), congestion management, forecasting , etc. to ensure system security, controllability and flexibility.
 •  You will contribute on a technical level to help promote synergy between several CRoF projects , for example of NMM and DSA/grid dynamics initiatives
 •  You contribute to the development of methodologies and knowledge dissemination platforms. Actively participate in the integration of the new solutions in the operational environment , including operational planning and real-time timeframes.
 •  You engage in strategic partnerships and participate in international task force groups.
 •  You connect internal and external stakeholders to system operations providing a full picture of the challenges ahead and ensure proper alignment of multiple initiatives within TenneT.
 •  You promote a data-driven organisation by ensuring a solid foundation for data such as network models . This will be achieved by standardization of data exchanges and integration according enterprise architecture principles. Collaboration and alignment with IT from a functional (business) perspective will cover that.
 •  You ensure that functionality is developed or acquired according to TenneT needs and requirements. If relevant, in collaboration with other TSO's or by (partly) leveraging open source solutions.

Your profile and background
 •  Master or PhD in electrical/power system engineering
 •  Sound knowledge of power systems, preferably including grid modelling and concepts of power system dynamics and flexibility
 •  Knowledge of the common information model (CIM) standard or willingness to learn is recommended
 •  Experience in working for a grid operator in the field of system operations or development would be highly welcomed
 •  Some experience with power system analysis software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory and/or PSS/e is required
 •  You are a responsible and proactive individual with good working ethics. Furthermore, you are a curious person who likes to work on technically complex topics and be intellectually challenged
 •  Hands-on mentality combined with focus and perseverance to get things done
 •  A positive attitude towards working in an international team is of high importance ; connection is key for you to succeed
 •  You have the ambition to learn and develop yourself and drive the energy transition together with your colleagues
 •  Very good verbal/writing skills in English are mandatory. Knowledge of Dutch can be beneficial

Additional information
 •  The weekly working time is 40 hours in the Netherlands
 •  Type of contract is indefinite
 •  Pay Scale 8 in accordance with the TenneT collectieve labor agreement (salary range €3879 - €7660,depending on relevant knowledge, level, and work experience).
