Graduation Internship - Modelling and Implementing Use Case-Based Cloud Spend Insights
As an intern within the Data Differentiation Department (DDP), you will contribute directly to improving financial transparency and cloud cost insights within our data platform landscape. You will work together with colleagues from the DDP Tech Platform team to investigate how cloud spend can be allocated and analyzed at a more meaningful level: the Use Case level.
Within the department, cloud costs are currently mainly linked to the ServiceNow concept of Business Applications. While this provides financial insights at application level, it offers limited visibility into the detailed cloud resources and activities that actually drive costs.DDP works with the concept of a Use Case: a concrete business or data-related initiative for which teams use platform capabilities and data services.
As an intern, you will support the design and implementation of a new approach for allocating and reporting cloud costs based on Use Cases. During your internship, you will work on:
- Analyzing the current financial reporting and cloud spend setup.
- Understanding how the Use Case concept is applied within the department and across platform services.
- Designing a methodology for allocating cloud costs to Use Cases.
- Modelling the required data structures and allocation logic.
- Creating a data model, preferably implemented as a datamart or other persisted solution.
- Validating whether the proposed solution provides more actionable and transparent cloud spend insights.
- Exploring, as a stretch goal, possible solutions for allocating shared storage costs fairly across users or Use Cases.
The internship is both analytical and technical in nature and offers plenty of room for initiative and independent research.
In this role, you will work [32-40 hours] per week, partly from our head office and partly from home.
